"Run Little Girl"

Created by Lindsay Drury with Esther Neff, Jillian Rose & Kym Chambers

Performed by Paige Fredlund, Lorene Bouboushian, Hadar Ahuvia, Laura Bartczak, Katelyn Hales, Corinne Cappelletti & Clara Freedman

Run Little Girl is a folk dance haunted with demons. It explores the schisms between collectivism and individuality, feminism and misogyny, memory and anti-sentimentality, formalism and folk art. The title, "Run Little Girl," is taken from a line of poetry written by John Cage at the age of four and a half. In dialogue with Cunningham, Cage and their historic studio space, this work attempts to engage with the position of anonymity the artist has inherited, as it differs from the "silence" Cage describes in his famous book, being based instead in the historical silence she inherits as a woman.
