Support the Legacy Tour
Currently encompassing over 40 cities, the final, two-year Legacy Tour will offer audiences around the world a last chance to see Merce’s work performed by the company he personally trained. Your support can be used to underwrite physical therapy for dancers on the tour, sponsor a specific Legacy Tour performance, or fund residency activities – like concerts, “Family Day” workshops, and master classes – at Tour destinations throughout the world. To support the multifaceted plan, the Cunningham Dance Foundation has launched an $8-million campaign.
Support Dancer Career Transition
Following the closure of MCDC at the end of the Legacy Tour, the Cunningham Dance Foundation will responsibly care for the artists who have dedicated their time and creative energy to realizing Merce’s vision. Career transition resources will enable the dancers to enroll in classes, cover moving costs, or underwrite other career transition expenses. Your support will help MCDC dancers choose their next steps without undue financial pressure.
Sponsor a Dance Capsule
The Cunningham Dance Foundation is pioneering “Dance Capsules” to digitally preserve as many of Merce’s works as possible. Each Dance Capsule will comprise documentation of the array of the creative elements that make a Cunningham dance: choreography, music, décor, costumes, lighting, and production notes. Your support will help ensure that Merce’s work can be studied and enjoyed by future generations of dancers, scholars, and members of the public.
Recognition and naming opportunities are available in all of these areas.
We would be happy to work with you to recognize your contribution to the Legacy campaign.
