Merce Cunningham extended the frontiers of choreography for more than half a century. He has said that one of the most significant events that shaped his work came with the use of the computer program Life Forms now called DanceForms. Merce was on the development team for this dance software. Every work he choreographed from 1991 onward makes use of this program, and each is quite different from the others.
